My name is Adrienne and I have been a Registered Dietitian for nearly 15 years and working in the field of nutrition for over 17 years. I became interested in Nutrition during my first year of college and later enrolled in the Nutrition and Dietetics Bachelors program at Rutgers University. I first learned of the power of plant-based foods when I took a supplemental course on Vegetarian Nutrition at Florida International University while working on my Masters degree in Nutrition with a focus on Nutrition Education.
During my first year as a Clinical Dietitian at a Level 1 trauma hospital I met a patient recovering from cancer who told me about a book called The China Study. The China Study by Dr. T Colin Campbell reviews the connections of dietary intakes and health outcomes…in short we are what we eat and some choices can support our health or lead to an increased risk of developing chronic diseases.
In 2016, with an ever increasing interested in plant-based nutrition, I completed a Plant based nutrition certificate course from eCornell and have been using that educational foundation to support my health and the health of my patients, clients, family and friends ever since.
Providing nutrition education, busting food myths and working with peoples’ individual needs is something I pride myself on. As the famous quote by Hippocrates goes, “let food be thy medicine and let medicine be thy food”. In thinking of our eating environment today, at times a food wasteland, at other times a bounty of abundance, I believe that food should help, not hurt.
