I love to use ginger in my cooking all year long but there is something especially warming about having ginger in the winter time. December has started and here are a few ways to explore ginger:
- Try powdered ginger and cinnamon added to your morning oatmeal
- Add diced ginger to a vegetable stir fry
- Use the peel from fresh ginger and add lemon juice to hot water
If you have not yet tried pomegranate, what are you waiting for? I admit I was unsure of the who, what, whys and hows of pomegranate but here are a few tips to help you enjoy them even more (and maybe with a bit less mess):
- Choose a medium to deep red pomegranate to ensure it is nice and ripe
- Use a large bowl and a wooden spoon to help you remove the seeds with minimal mess. Cut the pomegranate in half, hold firmly at the sides and hit the pomegranate with the back of the spoon. The seeds will pop out easily into the bowl.
- Enjoy pomegranate seeds added to your favorite vinaigrette dressing
